Ambition

A few weeks ago, during my interview at Whirlpool, my future boss Warwick was giving me advice about what concentrations I might choose for my MBA. I was kind of debating between marketing and strategic management when he said something along the lines of, "If you want to run companies, marketing will better prepare you to do that because once you get into consulting and strategy, you're part of overhead, and it's very hard to get out of that." The important part for me wasn't realizing that marketing was perhaps a better choice, but rather, that I do want to run a company. Over the past couple of weeks I've become convinced that this is true, and even though it's really strange to say that explicitly, it's pretty cool!
